| Unstoppable Dedication: TMMD 127 Kodim Brebes Brings Hope to Cikuya Village |
BREBES – Extreme weather and difficult terrain have not weakened the determination of the Task Force (Satgas) of the 127th Regular TMMD (TNI Manunggal Membangun Desa) under Kodim 0713/Brebes. Amid heavy rainfall turning access roads in Cikuya Village into muddy and slippery paths, simple tools such as wheelbarrows have become the most reliable “weapons” in the battle against time.
Muddy Terrain Is Not an Obstacle
As heavy vehicles struggled to reach the concrete pouring site due to soft ground conditions, TMMD personnel together with local residents relied on physical strength and balance to transport construction materials manually using wheelbarrows.
Captain Inf. Suwarno, Company Commander (Danki SSK) of TMMD 127, personally led the material transport operation on site. He emphasized that challenging terrain has instead strengthened the creativity and resilience of the personnel.
“In muddy conditions like this, wheelbarrows are our primary weapon. Material trucks cannot reach the zero point of the concrete work, so we use manual methods to ensure daily progress continues,” Captain Suwarno stated during the activity.
The use of wheelbarrows has proven more flexible and effective in navigating narrow and slippery footpaths compared to motorized vehicles. Although it requires extra effort, the synergy between TNI personnel and local residents makes the heavy work feel lighter.
The road concreting project is a vital infrastructure target for residents of Cikuya Village, Banjarharjo District. Once completed, mobility during the rainy season will no longer be hindered by mud.
“Rain is a challenge, not an obstacle. We ensure that materials reach their destination so road quality meets the required specifications,” Captain Suwarno affirmed.
Ramadan Blessings and Economic Impact
The presence of TMMD 127 has not only improved infrastructure but also brought tangible economic benefits to small traders in Cikuya Village. One of them is Mrs. Saonah (50), a local vendor selling iftar snacks and fresh coconut drinks.
As the TMMD program coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, her sales have increased significantly. Task Force personnel frequently stop by to purchase young coconut ice and fruit drinks for breaking their fast.
“Alhamdulillah, I am very happy TMMD is here. Not only will our roads improve, but my sales have also increased. Many soldiers buy drinks for iftar,” Saonah said with a bright smile.
For Saonah, the presence of the Task Force has become a blessing during Ramadan, helping support her household as Eid approaches.
This demonstrates the multiplier effect of the TMMD program. Beyond building transportation access that will enhance long-term economic distribution, the presence of personnel on site directly stimulates local microeconomic activity.
Service Without Limits in Extreme Conditions
Deep within the dense forest and nearly inaccessible terrain of Cikuya Village, the sound of construction tools breaks the silence. Despite unpredictable weather and steep inclines, TMMD personnel continue their mission of service.
Under the leadership of Warrant Officer (Peltu) Maulana, serving as Head Builder, morale remains strong. For him, every broken stone and every meter of road opened represents new hope for residents who have long faced limited access.
“We are not just building roads or infrastructure. We are building a future for our brothers and sisters here. Despite exhaustion and extreme terrain, seeing the smiles of residents gives us additional energy,” Peltu Maulana explained.
Far from their families and urban comforts, the soldiers stay at the site, resting modestly and working beyond normal hours. Their mission is clear: to bring a “ray of development” to remote areas of Brebes Regency.
A New Hope for Ibu Iya and Little Lukas
A radiant smile was visible on the face of Ibu Iya (46), a local farmer, as she walked along the village road currently under construction. Accompanied by her four-year-old grandson, Lukas, she returned home from the rice fields while observing the soldiers at work.
She expressed her gratitude directly to Corporal (Koptu) Agus Suryatno, stating that the new road would significantly change her daily routine.
“Alhamdulillah, Sir. Once the road is completed, I won’t have to walk to the fields anymore. I can use my motorcycle,” she said optimistically.
Previously, access to farmland was especially challenging during the rainy season. TMMD 127 has brought renewed hope for productivity and economic mobility.
The moment ended warmly when young Lukas shyly requested a photo with the soldiers he admired. Corporal Agus gladly posed with him at the construction site.
“Seeing the happiness of residents like Ibu Iya removes our fatigue. TMMD is not only about cement and concrete, but about building hope,” Corporal Agus stated.
Unity Between TNI and the People
The TMMD 127 program of Kodim 0713/Brebes stands as a clear manifestation of the unity between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the people. What was once a quiet and isolated forest area is now filled with the sound of development and optimism.
Despite extreme terrain and unpredictable weather, the commitment of the TMMD Task Force remains unwavering. The silence of Cikuya’s forest has transformed into a symbol of progress, resilience, and shared hope for the entire community.
