From Mud to Concrete: TMMD Transforms Rural Access in Cikuya Village, Brebes

A Long-Awaited Change for Cikuya Village

TMMD TNI - BREBES.  A quiet but powerful smile lit up the face of Ratini (50), a resident of Cikuya Village, Banjarharjo District, Brebes Regency. For decades, the road in her village was nothing more than a muddy track slippery in the rainy season, dusty in the dry months, and always testing patience more than most people’s Wi-Fi connections.

Ratini, who earns her living collecting grass for goat feed, can now walk on a solid concrete road instead of navigating through thick mud. For her and many others, this is not just infrastructure. It’s relief. It’s dignity. It’s progress you can literally step on.

TMMD 127: More Than Just Concrete

The transformation is part of the Regular TMMD (TNI Manunggal Membangun Desa) Program 127, implemented by Kodim 0713/Brebes. On Sunday (22/02/2026), Ratini stood watching the final stages of concrete pouring, her eyes reflecting gratitude that words could barely contain.

“During heavy rain, it was almost impossible to pass through. Motorcycles would slip, sometimes we had to push them through thick mud. Now, thank God, it’s concrete. We are very grateful,” she said softly.

Boosting Rural Economy and Mobility

Previously, the main access road to farmland and residential areas would turn into a muddy swamp every rainy season. This condition slowed agricultural distribution, disrupted children’s school routines, and complicated daily mobility.

The newly constructed road stretches approximately 1,500 meters long, with an average width of 3 meters and a thickness of 15 centimeters. Strong enough to handle vehicles transporting agricultural products, the road is expected to significantly improve the village’s economic flow.

Infrastructure may look like cement and gravel, but in rural areas, it often means opportunity. And opportunity, as we know, travels faster on concrete than on mud.

TNI Presence: Building Roads and Community Spirit

The Commander of Kodim 0713/Brebes and TMMD Task Force Leader, Lt. Col. Inf. Ambariyantomo, S.Hub.Int., emphasized that this development is not merely a physical project.

“We ensure the highest quality for this concrete construction. Our presence here is not only about building roads, but also strengthening cooperation and unity between the military and the people,” he stated firmly.

Beyond Roads: Holistic Village Development

In addition to road construction, TMMD 127 also includes the rehabilitation of uninhabitable houses (RTLH) and supporting infrastructure to strengthen connectivity within Cikuya Village.

The program is scheduled to officially conclude on March 11, 2026. But for Ratini and her neighbors, the impact will last far longer.

The concrete road stretching across their village is not just a transportation link. It is a symbol that persistence eventually replaces mud with progress and that even the most rural corners deserve solid ground beneath their dreams.
