Tips to prevent manual cars from stalling after changing transmission gears

Indeed, currently manual transmission is no longer the main choice for customers. But, there are still many people who use this type of car. Apart from that, manual cars are also good for beginner drivers who are just learning to drive so they can move more smoothly on the road.

Quoted from Kompas.com, the process of shifting gears in a manual transmission car requires the work of several parts that must be compact, namely the pedal, gas, brake and clutch. This is different from automatic or automatic transmission cars which only have gas and brake pedals.

You have to be able to balance lifting the gas pedal, pressing the clutch pedal, changing gears, and pressing the gas pedal again so that the car can move smoothly. This process, which requires collaboration in a short time, must be practiced continuously until the driving feeling is unified.

The goal is so that the car does not "jump" or stutter after shifting transmission gears, which ultimately makes the driver and passengers feel uncomfortable. Those of you who are just learning must continue to practice so that the process of changing gears runs smoothly.

What passengers expect is comfort. For this reason, you have to learn how to make smooth and fluid gear shifts. Basically, when shifting manual car gears from low to high and vice versa from high to low, there should be no overtuning or excessive use.

This happens because usually the driver, when moving from low to high gear, is a bit lazy about releasing the gas pedal. It's best to release the gas pedal at the same time as pressing the clutch pedal and balance it so that the engine speed doesn't roar (too high) or drop (drops drastically).

Simply put, when the engine speed is between 2,000 – 2,500 rpm, you need to increase the transmission gear position. Lift your foot from the accelerator pedal and press the clutch pedal fully with a balanced movement.

Move the gear lever to a higher gear 1 step and release the clutch pedal while increasing the car's speed. Depressing the clutch and gas pedals must be adjusted simultaneously to ensure smooth gear shifting.

You must lower the gear position when the speed decreases as indicated by the engine speed dropping to near idle. Try not to let the engine vibrate, which means the RPM is too low. Apart from being uncomfortable, the car has run out of power making it difficult to accelerate.

The procedure is the same as raising a gear, namely release the accelerator pedal, fully depress the clutch pedal, and lower the gear one level. Over time, your feelings will hone themselves. You will know the right time to shift gears and align your pedals.
