List of Advantages of the Toyota bZ4X Electric Car

In line with its Mobility for All commitment, Toyota complements its existing electrification technology options with the All New bZ4X as the first Toyota Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) product marketed to customers in Indonesia.

The All New bZ4X is a form of realization of Toyota's vision of presenting ever-better cars as a means of pollution-free mobility. This cannot be separated from efforts to support the Indonesian government's Net Zero Emission strategy in 2060 and the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050 to reduce carbon emissions.

Following are some of the advantages of the Toyota bZ4X as an environmentally friendly BEV:

Using the e-TNGA Platform

The All New bZ4X is built on the basis of the e-TNGA platform which is optimized and dedicated to BEVs. One of the advantages is that the slim battery unit is located under the floor of the vehicle and is integrated into the chassis to achieve a low center of gravity, ideal front-rear weight balance and high body rigidity.

In terms of size, this electric-powered SUV is 4,690 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, 1,600 mm high, 2,850 mm wheelbase, and weighs only 2,195 kg. The Toyota bZ4X adopts MacPherson strut front suspension and double wishbone rear with anti-roll bar to achieve ideal levels of control and safety performance.

Powerful and Smooth Electric Motorcycle on the Road

The Toyota bZ4X uses front-wheel drive or Front Wheel Drive (FWD), which is known to be efficient and adequate on urban roads. The resulting power reaches 204 hp and 266 Nm of torque to create acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and mid-acceleration from 48-90 km/h in 2.9 seconds.

The All New bZ4X uses a new eAxle design which integrates the transaxle, motor and inverter in one unit. The light and compact design helps achieve shorter overhangs and a low center of gravity and makes the cabin and trunk more spacious.

An ECU placed closer to the electric motor allows faster detection of symptoms of wheel slippage. The application of precise and responsive drive torque control has succeeded in reducing wheel slippage at the start of acceleration, which is a weakness of electric motors due to large and constant power.

Advanced Battery Technology and Charging Friendly

This is the first battery in a Toyota car to use a water cooling system, there is a refrigerant that helps keep output stable when each cell is cooled individually. This system is connected to the cabin air conditioning so that there is power-saving coordination between the battery and cabin temperature control.

The battery can be charged quickly without compromising safety or service life. 80% charging can be achieved in around 30 minutes with the 150 kW DC output CCS2 fast charging system. Meanwhile, a full charge using AC output 230 V/32 A will take around 9-10 hours.

Official bZ4X data explains that this vehicle provides a fairly long distance. The front-wheel drive model marketed in Indonesia can reach a distance of up to 500 km with a fully charged battery.

Sporty and Sophisticated Out-of-the-box Design

The fascia is kept minimalist and hi-tech by avoiding unnecessary decorations. This is characterized by the "hammerhead" design as a characteristic of Toyota BEVs with firm and sturdy sculptures reinforced by sleek LED lights that give a futuristic and sporty impression.

Moving to the side, a slim silhouette is presented with a low overall height and a flat impression, reinforced by the thin front pillars. The low shoulder line reflects the low center of gravity achieved with the application of the e-TNGA platform and the integrated battery pack is housed under the floor.

At the rear, the design focus once again emphasizes the car's angles with distinctive taillights bridging the width of the vehicle. The sturdy impression with thick corners continues to the sporty style rear bumper.

Comfortable and Calm Future Style Interior

The interior theme of the bZ4X is comfort and spaciousness, providing a cabin-style living room atmosphere. The instrument panel is slim and low, adding a spacious feel and maintaining driver visibility. This design is possible thanks to the use of a new air conditioning unit that is 30% more compact.

The principle of “hands on the wheel, eyes on the road” is supported by a driver-centered cockpit. The seven-inch TFT instrument panel and MID are right in the driver's line of sight so they can be seen with minimal eye movement. The small steering wheel for easy visibility feels comfortable and intuitive.

The Toyota bZ4X has a rotary control for the transmission, namely the outer part is pressed and turned left or right to select the D (Drive) or R (Reverse) position. Position P (Park) is a one-touch button just behind the rotary knob. Behind it, there is a wireless charger for charging gadget batteries.

Extra Spacious and Comfortable Passenger Cabin

The layout of the seats in the car takes into account the comfort of all passengers. The benefits of a long wheelbase and low floor provide a boxy, airy cabin without any intrusions. The arrangement of the 5 seats is made comfortable and fair for all passengers, especially the middle passenger.

The spacious head room thanks to the SUV's posture is enhanced by the spacious leg room due to the fact that there are no driving components under the flat floor. Interaction between passengers can be maintained well because there is no combustion engine and the drive system is centered on each wheel. The new AC system regulates air flow efficiently to save electricity usage while remaining cool.

Complete and Advanced Driving Safety Features

There are 6-airbags and e-TNGA construction as a passive safety feature. The Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Hill-starting Assist System (HAS) features are present along with the Electronically Controlled Brake System (ECBS) to optimize ABS brakes.

For active safety features, bZ4X has Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), Safe Exit Assist (SEA), Clerance Sonar, Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Rear Camera Detection (RCD), Parking Support Brake (PSB), and Panoramic View Monitor (PVM).

Toyota bZ4X adopts Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 3.0 technology. Consisting of Pre-Collision System & Pre-Collision Brake Assist, Lane Departure Alert, Lane Tracing Assist, Adaptive High-beam System, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
