Telkom University Continues to Develop Avionics Research

In October 2022, Telkom University (Tel-U) received a grant for an aircraft from First Marshal TNI Retired Sardjono. Now, this aircraft grant is used by Tel-U to develop research in the field of Avionics (Avionics).

This development was based on the desire of the Tel-U lecturer team, namely Dr. Nina Hendrarini S.T., M.T.; Dr. Duddy Soegiarto S.T., M.T; Ema S.T., M.T and Teguh Asfriyanto S.T., M.T.

This team of lecturers from the Faculty of Applied Sciences formed Research Alliances (RA) Aviation as a forum to accommodate all activities related to Aerospace at Telkom University.

Formally, Research Alliances (RA) Aviation was legalized with a decree from the Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Cooperation at Telkom University on January 20 2023. Contributions in the aviation sector in the form of the results of this research are expected to broaden the horizons of aviation perspective by adding ICT-based aviation competencies.

Currently the RA Aviation Team is conducting research to create competency certification for aircraft technicians under the name Approved Maintenance Training Organization (AMTO). With the formation of AMTO, it is hoped that it will be able to become an organization capable of providing competency certification with the education of prospective aircraft technicians.

“The process for developing AMTO is very long, like opening a study program. "Because a technician who wants to work on an airplane is legally obliged to have a basic lesson/basic certificate/additional certification when someone wants to work in the world of aviation." said Ema.

The research carried out by the Team from Research Alliances (RA) Aviation did not stop there. Moving forward, the RA Aviation Team will plan the creation of an Aviation Maintenance Organization (AMO), which is a startup in the field of aircraft maintenance. A lot of research carried out by the RA Aviation Team does not only cover aircraft, such as electric motors, hybrid solar power plants and others.

"So we are, not because we are airplanes and we don't want to see anything else, which means that if Mr. Teguh (RA Aviation Team) has knowledge about airplane engines, jets and all kinds of things, that can be implemented in Turbine Power Plants (PLTT). Match the logic. I also hope that my friends' knowledge can also be used on airplanes as a collaboration," said Nina as RA Aviation Team Leader.
