Cheapest New Private Jet, Still in Production (Part 7 & 8)

Continued parts 7 & 8. Prices for new private jets vary widely, with the flagship model having a list price of $75 million.

However, what if you want to buy a new private jet that is more affordable? What is the cheapest new private jet on the market?

So, which are the ten cheapest private jets to buy new?

The prices below are standard prices for each new aircraft from the factory. With options, the price will likely increase. Also note that this does not include list prices for discontinued or used aircraft.

The aircraft below are all in production.

7. Cessna Citation CJ3+ – $8 million

As usual among Cessna's lineup, the Cessna Citation CJ3+ is the latest development in a long family of aircraft. The CJ3+ can trace its roots back to the original Cessna CitationJet which was launched in October 1989. The original model 525 first took to the skies in 1991. Deliveries began two years later. Since the early 1990s Cessna has continued to develop the CitationJet.

First, Cessna updated the CitationJet to the CJ1/M2 variant. The M2 VLJ variant is currently what Cessna produces.

8. Nextant 604XT – $8 million

Next on the list is the Nextant 604XT, priced new at $8 million. The Nextant 604XT is a re-production of the Bombardier Challenger 604. Next did not design and manufacture the aircraft from new. Instead, they reproduce existing aircraft. Currently, their lineup includes the 604XT, 400XTi, and G90XT.

The benefit of remanufacturing an existing aircraft is that you are effectively receiving an entire "new" aircraft, with next-generation technology and comfort features, without the expense of clean design and certification. This aircraft is based on an existing and proven aircraft.

The three main areas of improvement from Nextant are an improved flight deck, improved passenger cabin and enhanced performance capabilities.

Used examples cost between $7 million and $8 million. Additionally, Nextant 604XT has an impressive annual depreciation rate of only 2.2%.
