Today the Japan Mobility Show (JMS) 2023 event is opening specifically for the media. At the automotive exhibition previously known as the Tokyo Motor Show, Toyota displayed several new models, one of which was the Toyota Land Cruiser Se and Toyota FT-Se, both of which are powered by electricity (EV).
Not only that, Toyota also displayed one of its special concept cars, namely the Toyota Rangga Concept, which was brought directly from Indonesia to be exhibited in Japan. The presence of the Rangga Concept is Toyota's confirmation of product diversification to suit the various needs of its consumers.
The following is the lineup of Toyota concept cars that will be present at JMS 2023:
1. Toyota FT-Se
This car, together with the Toyota FT-3e, is the star of the stage at the Toyota booth at JMS 2023. The Toyota FT-Se is a future EV sports car concept from Toyota which is the embodiment of Toyota's expertise in motorsport events with Toyota GAZOO Racing.
“We designed it based on (experience on) circuits, we want to connect circuits and customers together, therefore we learn a lot from (trajectories of) circuits. So we developed the kind of technology and know-how for (this) new car. "So the aim of the design is how to develop a design with beauty into one, so balance is very important," said Hideaki Iida, Project Manager of GR Design Group Gazoo Racing Company.
Its compact figure is said to provide advantages in terms of stability and better performance thanks to its aerodynamic design. Sharing many components with the FT-3e, this compact sports car offers improved performance simply by tweaking the software.
2. Toyota FT-3e
Its figure immediately shows that this car will be the basis of Toyota's future electric SUV. Not only that, the use of Toyota's new platform and battery technology also means that the FT-3e concept will become a benchmark for Toyota's future EV products.
One of the unique technologies shown in this concept car is the display screen on both sides of the car which will provide information for the driver or passengers, including battery condition, cabin temperature and air quality inside.
3. Toyota Land Cruiser Se
Toyota's legendary flagship SUV doesn't want to miss out on getting an electric powertrain, appearing as a future concept to succeed the Land Cruiser's glory.
The figure is futuristic with sharp, muscular body lines and modern light lines. The dimensions it displays are larger than the last generation Land Cruiser, with better aerodynamic values.
There are no further details regarding the technology it will use, but it seems that Toyota's new platform for EVs and batteries with solid-state technology that Toyota is currently developing will be the components used in the Land Cruiser EV when it is produced in at least the next 4 years.
4. Toyota EPU
Still an electrified model, the Toyota EPU medium-size pick-up concept will also be the electric-powered pick-up (EV) of the future for Toyota. The monocoque body structure promises a multi-purpose tub space for various applications.
Its dimensions of up to 5 meters promise optimum capacity, especially with the ability to connect the rear cabin space to the tub which makes its use even more accommodating.
Like the Land Cruiser Se, this EPU will also be a Toyota EV product which will use the latest platform and battery technology in the future.
5. Toyota Kayoibako
This car is designed to realize future mobility with the freedom to live the life you want, anywhere and anytime. Toyota Kayoibako was inspired by the shape of a box container which is usually used to transport spare parts and various products.
Kayoibako is designed so that it can be used for whatever needs the consumer desires, including for transporting goods and people, and can even be used for adventures in nature.
Until now, Toyota has not mentioned detailed specifications, but together with other concept cars on stage, Kayoibako is predicted to carry the EV technology trend.
6. Toyota Rangga Concept
Even though it does not offer EV technology, the presence of the Toyota Rangga Concept at JMS 2023 is an opportunity for Toyota to present 2 of the 3 pillars of the Toyota mobility concept at the JMS 2023 event, namely Intelligence and Diversification.
The Intelligence Pillar is realized by expanding connectivity with the community as end users with customization capabilities so that consumers can get commercial vehicles that truly suit their needs. Meanwhile, from a diversification perspective, with the ability of this car to be developed, it is hoped that the Rangga Concept can meet people's mobility needs by supporting the activities of various business fields.
