It's not only gasoline engines that Toyota is taking care of regarding vehicle electrification, reportedly diesel engines will also be "electrocuted" in the form of hybrid technology that is different from the habits of this Japanese manufacturer. This is in line with Toyota's target to deliver electrification technology in each of its product lines by the end of this decade.
Reporting from Carsguide Friday (07/10/2022) this hybrid technology will combine a turbo diesel engine with a capacity of 2,800 cc with an electric motor with a voltage of 48 volts. This means that diesel engines will receive mild hybrid electrification technology that can reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emission levels.
Toyota Fortuner Hybrid Uses the TNGA-F Platform
The combination of Toyota's mild hybrid engine will be present for the first time on the latest generation Fortuner which is reportedly launching in 2023. Later, the Toyota Fortuner will use the TNGA-F platform, a TNGA platform specifically for ladder frame chassis such as the Land Cruiser 300, Tundra and Tacoma.
Because the Fortuner has always been on the same platform as the Hilux, it is very likely that even the latest generation of pickups will get the TNGA-F platform which will probably be launched between 2023 or 2024. It could also be that mild hybrid technology is also present in this Toyota flagship pickup.
Toyota Fortuner Comes with Several Variants
Back to the Fortuner, later this latest generation will be available in a choice of manual and automatic transmissions, as well as 4x2 and 4x4 drives.
