The new Lexus GX 2024 has finally been introduced after almost 14 years of not getting any changes. However, the GX has now changed drastically, eliminating its old impression and becoming a hefty, square-bodied SUV with off-road capabilities, but it doesn't leave the luxurious aura that is typical of Lexus.
Through the Lexus GX 2024, the Japanese manufacturer wants to emphasize that the GX is a true partner when billionaires need a luxury vehicle that can be used daily to the office as well as taken off-road on weekends.
Of course, it's not just the external appearance that has been completely revised, the cabin layout, engine and other supporting features have also been upgraded.
Lexus GX 2024 No Longer Using V8 Engine
GX now uses a new platform that changes the engine specifications behind its big bonet. Maybe some people will be disappointed because this car no longer uses a V8 configuration engine.
Replace the 3.4-liter V6 engine but with the addition of a Twin-Turbo combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The machine is reportedly capable of producing 354 PS of peak power with 650 Nm of torque or 45 PS and 46 Nm stronger than the V8 engine version.
Quoted from Carscoops, Tuesday (13/06/2023), currently this engine is the only option. But Lexus also plans to present a hybrid engine variant while still using turbo technology.
Boxy SUV with Luxurious Interior
Dimensionally, this SUV has a body length of 5,005 mm, width of 2,117 mm and height of 1,935 mm. This size is larger than the previous generation GX.
If you look at the physical exterior, the GX 2024 still uses the typical Lexus spindle grille on the front, even though it's not as big as the other newest Lexus models.
The main lights also still display straight lines like other Lexus families, but the curves of the hood are made to stand out on the outer edges.
Meanwhile, starting from the fenders to the rear area, the Lexus seems to be inspired by the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series.
This can be seen from the broken lines of the car's body, including the large boxy mirrors in the style of the old Land Cruiser.
The fender arches also seem to be made asymmetrically, paired with 18-inch wheels with All Terrain 33 tires which indicates that this car is ready for off-roading.
Meanwhile, even though it looks scary from the outside, the cabin space of the latest GX accentuates the feel of luxury and comfort.
The dashboard layout is somewhat reminiscent of the latest Lexus RX, with an intimidating 14-inch monitor in the center.
However, it seems that Lexus has not removed the physical buttons in this car, including the transmission lever which is still conservative, the Electric Parking Brake (EPB) button, as well as several offroad mode setting buttons.
All of the seats have electric adjustments with the second row of captain seat models. Meanwhile, the third row seats can be folded 60:40 to accommodate more luggage space.
In the cabin area of this car, 12 cup holders, 6 charging sockets, and a 12V socket are also provided to turn on some household appliances when camping or adventure.
Even though it has been introduced, the new Lexus GX 2024 will be sold in Japan next year, including the price which will be announced later.
