Weaknesses of the Hyundai Stargazer Active, Make it Difficult to Compete with the Toyota Avanza G and Suzuki Ertiga GL

Hyundai recently launched an update for the Stargazer Active. The lower type gets additional features in the form of double blower air conditioning and alloy wheels that used to be on the Trend type. With only that many updates, of course Stargazer Active still has many weaknesses that need to be fixed.

This is because the price of the Stargazer Active as the lowest type is quite high for a low MPV. This car is priced at IDR 247.2 million with a manual transmission and IDR 260 million for the automatic IVT variant. In that price range, you can get a medium variant at a low MPV output by Toyota or Suzuki with a manual transmission.

This means that with a slightly more expensive budget than the Stargazer Active MT, we can get a Japanese low MPV with better features. So what are the weaknesses that must be addressed from the Hyundai Stargazer Active so that it can be more tempting? Here is the review.

1. The AC settings on the Hyundai Stargazer Active are still manual and not telescopic steering

With prices in the range of Rp. 250 million, the features in the Stargazer Active are lacking. With status as the lowest type, Stargazer Active only uses manual ac settings using old school knobs like a radio.

Even though in the Toyota Avanza 1.5 G and Suzuki Ertiga GL, the AC settings in these cars are digital using buttons. Furthermore, the AC on the Ertiga GL already uses a digital model but does not yet use auto climate technology with heater.

The Toyota Avanza G 1.5 MT, which costs Rp. 257,800,000, even has a Tilt & Telescopic Steering feature with Audio & MID Switch which makes it easier for users to adjust the position of the steering wheel, audio and MID through a simple touch via the buttons on the steering wheel.

The Stargazer Active, which is Rp. 10 million cheaper, only has a tilt steering setting. These features tend to be similar to the Ertiga GL MT for IDR 251,600,000.

2. Don't Have Parking Sensors and Rear Wiper

The next thing that had to be stripped from the Stargazer Active so that the price was affordable was the parking sensor and rear wiper features. In fact, these two features are generally available in even the top-class LCGC class inexpensive cars.

Of course, this makes the Stargazer Active inferior compared to its competitors, especially the Toyota Avanza, which already features parking sensors and a rear wiper. Meanwhile, the Ertiga GL only lacks a parking sensor but already has a rear wiper.

3. Still Using Moderate Child Locks and Safety Features

The last thing you need to remember when choosing the lowest type of Stargazer is the understated safety and security features. As the lowest type, Stargazer Active has safety features in the form of ABS, EBD ISOFIX, and two airbags at the front. As for security, it still uses an immobilizer key and an alarm.

The features are still better than those in the Suzuki Ertiga GL. This car is supported by ABS + EBD, Dual SRS Airbag, seatbelt reminder, child safety lock, 2 point parking sensor, door open warning and ISOFIX. For security, Ertiga GL is equipped with an immobilizer and alarm.

Compared to the Toyota Avanza 1.5 G MT, it is equipped with a Start/Stop engine button with an additional light that easily turns the car on and off in the dark. Speaking of safety features, the third generation Avanza already has Antilock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assits (BA), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill Start Assits (HSA), and Dual SRS Airbags.
