The next QX80 seems to be adapting to the latest trends in front lighting elements. The first prototype sighting of the latest generation Infiniti QX80 just happened a few days ago, but our friends at Kolesa have already tried to predict the design behind the thick camouflage.
Of note, the QX80 luxury SUV hasn't had a generation update since 2010. Infiniti says that the next QX80 will herald a new design language and a reboot of the company.
However, the upcoming model seems to have kept the QX80's boxy design. This prototype camouflage has a headlight cutout, which gives a hint of its new face.
There are high-mounted slender lights and a second set of vertically oriented lights mounted in the center of the fascia – a design execution that is in line with current front lighting trends, and you can see it in the rendering below.
Meanwhile, a larger trapezoidal grille sits in the center, mounted over a pair of rectangular vents that protrude at the lower end of the fascia.
Internal combustion power still plays a big role in the next-generation model, seen in the wide-open grille on the prototype.
We're expecting turbocharged V6 power to replace the current 5.6-liter V8. Infiniti seems to have taken inspiration for the new design from the QX80 Monograph concept, with the resemblance clear on the front.
This is reflected in the renderings, while flattened doorknobs are also present. At the rear, there is a slim taillight, which is much smaller than the current model and the QX80 Monograph Concept.
There is also a thin D-pillar that still uses the QX80's angled rear glass, while fender vents are also present.
The latter appears functional because the camouflage on the prototype was cut to allow airflow through it. The exhaust pipe is tucked under the rear fascia.
While details are still scarce, Nissan, Infiniti's parent company, is likely to move quickly on its debut as soon as a prototype hits public roads.
Infiniti could reveal the new QX80 later this year as a 2024 model, but a debut in 2025 could also happen.
