Chery seems endless to continue to develop new products. Now the most recent news has come from the Chinese manufacturer regarding the Chery TJ-1. An off-road SUV currently being tested in China.
The manufacturer claims that this new model is a light off-road vehicle. But Chery has not given the TJ-1 as an official name. They even asked for input from netizens to choose what name was most suitable for the car.

Light Off Road SUV
Quoted from Carnewschina, Thursday (23/03/2023), temporarily using the production code TJ-1, this car will reportedly be officially announced in July 2023. Even so, Chery has boasted that the new car will be the only 4x4 vehicle in its class 100 Thousand Yuan.
The design profile of the front is still identical to several Tiggo series, such as the Tiggo 7 Pro or Tiggo 8 Pro. It's just that the TJ-1 uses a large rectangular grille in black with decorative elements from chrome.
At the front to be precise under the hood there is also a pair of lights. Whether this will be used as the main light or just the DRL is still unclear. However, this lamp is made attractive with a matrix pattern.
Meanwhile, on the two corners of the bumper, there are two large square-shaped lamps. Most likely this lamp has a double function, namely as a fog light as well as a turn signal.
Body Silhouette Similar to Range Rover
If the front still has the feel of the Tiggo Series, then it is different from the pull of the side and rear body lines. Chery designed a straight line that stretches from the end of the headlights to the rear passenger door. Meanwhile, the C pillar is made of a floating roof.
The existence of wheel arches, alloy wheels with aggressive design patterns, side body molding and roof rails on the roof strengthen the characteristics of SUV cars in the TJ-1. As for the rear, there is a roof spoiler, and the lights are connected and use smoked accents. At first glance, the shape of the stern is similar to that of a Land Rover car. Agree?
Not a Big SUV
In terms of specifications, the TJ-1 doesn't actually have a body that's too big. It measures just 4,515 mm in length, 1,865 mm in width, 1,680 mm in height and 2,675 mm in wheelbase. If you think about it, its body is only slightly bigger than the Toyota Corolla Cross.
Chery is rumored to be releasing the TJ-1 in two engine options. First, the 1.6T engine is combined with a 7-speed Dual Clutch (DCT) transmission. The second 1.5T engine with plug-in hybrid technology. The hybrid engine is also claimed to be capable of driving in Full EV mode for more than 100 km. The fuel consumption with the WLTC test reached 22.2 km/liter.
The features are no less contemporary. In the center of the dashboard there is a 14.8-inch floating monitor. Then there is a wireless charger on the center console, as well as the use of an audio system from SONY. Not to forget the front row seats are also equipped with heating, ventilation and massage equipment.
