Using DNGA, Toyota Agya 2023 will be injected with hybrid and electric technology

After 10 years, the Toyota Agya 2023 has finally evolved. Yes, the All New Toyota Agya now looks sportier, with various changes in all sectors.

However, during the launch of the latest Toyota Agya, the question arose of when the Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) would become an electrified vehicle, either hybrid or electric. Considering that this latest model already uses the brand-new Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform, plus the development of electrification is getting faster.

Responding to this, Toyota Motor Corporation Executive Chief Engineer Toshihiro Nakaho said that currently Toyota is still considering the use of hybrid technology in the Toyota Agya, such as the Toyota Raize in Japan.

"From a technical standpoint, the platform is the same as an SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) in category A, namely Raize. So, this model (All New Agya) has the potential to apply Raize's hybrid system," said Toshihiro in Jakarta, Monday (13/2/2023).

It's just that Toshihiro did not deny that in order to apply hybrid technology to the latest product lines, one must think about not only technical issues, but many other aspects including costs.

"This (Toyota Agya) hatchback is an entry model. So, the high cost (price) is not accepted by its users. The second issue is related to how the battery is supplied. So, we have to consider it from a technical, production, to profitability perspective," Toshihiro explained.

Toyota Agya 2023 Not Only Hybrid, But Also Electric

This was also conveyed by Vice President Director Henry Tanoto, according to him, he did not rule out the possibility that in the future Toyota Agya could use a hybrid. "But try to check again. Because now it's heading to a more varied technology, the possibilities are very much there," said Henry.

However, Henry himself stated that not only hybrid, but even as a whole, Toyota also wants its products to be electric or electric.

"But we have to look at the many factors that we have to consider, the needs of the community, and others. But the point is that Toyota always introduces new cars, the changes really pay attention to the needs of the community. So we have to look there," said Henry. But the details of when Toyota will change the Toyota Agya to hybrid or electric, Henry cannot answer.

As is known, if it is true that Agya can be embedded with hybrid technology, then this will certainly be an extraordinary change. Because Toyota itself includes many cars with double engines, such as the Toyota Camry Hybrid, C-HR Hybrid Corolla Cross Hybrid, Altis Hybrid, and also the Kijang Innova Zenix hybrid.

Even this year, it is reported that Toyota will return to presenting hybrid cars for its product line. Reportedly, Toyota's hybrid car candidate is the B segment. That means it is most likely the Toyota Rush. Because the car is time to change.

As for electric cars, Toyota only has one type, namely the Toyota bZ4X. Interestingly, even though the price is quite expensive, above Rp. 1 billion, this car is reported to have received many orders.
