Toyota Grand Highlander 2023 Released, Fortuner Injected Supplement Version

The 2023 Toyota Grand Highlander was officially launched for the United States (US) market on Wednesday (08/02/2023) local time. Perhaps this is Toyota's newest passenger car, which is the largest in size.

As the name suggests, the Grand Highlander is a larger Highlander even though they both have a three-row seat mechanism. How not, the length of the Grand Highlander reaches 5.1 meters! Meanwhile, the ordinary Highlander, which has a body length of 4,950 mm, already looks bulky.

In addition to the "ordinary" Highlander, the Grand Highlander's body is also longer than the Land Cruiser 300 by 4,980 mm. But the Grand Highlander is still slightly shorter than the Toyota Sequoia, whose body length is 5,286 mm.

Carrying the TNGA-K platform, the Grand Highlander has a body length of 5,115 mm, width of 1,986 mm and height of 1,780 mm. With such a large body it is believed that it can provide very roomy space, especially for the third row seat passengers.

Even though they both use the Highlander name, the Grand Highlander design looks more boxy than the standard version which is more curvy. The grille itself is different from the Highlander because it now uses a "trapeziodal, hammerhead" design typical of the latest Toyota cars.

The all-box design that contrasts with the usual Highlander conveys a strong yet dynamic SUV aura. While the wheels don't use 18-inch sizes but are replaced with 20-inch ones.

Got 13 Cup Holders and 7 USB Slots

While in the interior it looks similar to the Highlander. Among other things, the digital instrument panel and touchscreen head unit are both 12.3 inches in size.

Interestingly, Toyota presents 7 USB Type C slots and 13 cup holders to support comfort for Grand Highlander passengers. Not only captain seats, this car also has bench seat options in the second row seats which can increase the passenger capacity of up to eight people.

The size of the Grand Highlander's body also has an impact on the wider luggage space; namely a capacity of 583 liters when the third row seats are used and 2,775 liters when all seats are folded.

Mighty Turbo Hybrid Engine

The Grand Highlander has three engine options, some of which are also from the Highlander. Namely the 2.4L turbo engine, 2.5L hybrid, and the latest 2.4L turbo hybrid with the frill "Hybrid Max". This latest hybrid engine is capable of producing 362 PS of power and 542 Nm of torque.

Using an all-wheel drive (AWD) drive system, Toyota claims that the Grand Highlander with a hybrid turbo engine can record acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds.

This large SUV was designed by Calty Design Studios in California and will be manufactured at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing factory located in Princeton, Indiana, USA.

Meanwhile, the official price and sales have only been carried out in the summer of this year. The Grand Highlander will compete with the Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, Honda Pilot, VW Atlas and the Jeep Grand Cherokee L.
