Mazda CX-90 2023 officially launched in the United States on Tuesday (31/1) local time. This step was taken by Mazda to become a premium brand on a par with European and American brands.
The CX-90 will accompany the CX-60 which first launched. Both of them joined together under the Large Platform Group to face the rapidly growing global SUV market.
This three-row SUV will be marketed in North America starting in spring 2023. It will also be released for the Australian market.
With a configuration of three rows of seats that can accommodate six or seven passengers in it, the CX-90 will compete with several rivals such as the Hyundai Palisade, Toyota Highlander, Nissan Pathfinder, Ford Explorer and Chevrolet Traverse.
Mazda CX-90 2023 Equipped with a Wild Engine
There are two CX-90 engine options offered to North American customers, and all of them are electrified. First, the 3.3-liter turbo petrol engine with inline-six configuration.
This machine is also implanted with a 48-volt mild hybrid technology called M Hybrid Boost. As a result, the resulting output reaches 345 PS with 500 Nm of torque.
Second, there is a 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid petrol engine with no less output. That is a peak power of 327 PS with a maximum torque of 500 Nm. This model is combined with a battery capacity of 17.8 kWh.
Like the CX-60, the CX-90 uses the same platform. However, the CX-90 has adopted all-wheel drive (AWD) as standard drive.
The price is not a little above the Toyota Fortuner 2.8
Mazda promises the CX-90 will provide better comfort and stability so that the trip will be more enjoyable. One of them is the presence of the Kinematic Posture Control feature which was previously developed for sportcars such as the MX-5.
The exterior design still carries the KODO design language, which has been Mazda's trademark for the past decade. The interior is also inspired by a typical Japanese aesthetic that creates an elegant aura.
This can be seen in the use of Nappa leather to specially designed fabrics with traditional Japanese stitches. The dashboard itself is similar to its smallest brother, the CX-60.
Including a 12.3-inch touchscreen head unit. Other features include triple-zone air conditioning and "See-Through View" monitors. The price for the Mazda CX-90 2023 is estimated to be in the range of USD 40-60 thousand.
