Honda Presents Electric Stabilizer Technology For Car Charging

Electric-tech vehicles are growing. The need for electricity is also increasing. This also made Honda R&D GmbH in collaboration with Kraftwerke GmbH innovate to create a breakthrough.

Yes, Honda R&D GmbH and Kraftwerke GmbH make a vehicle technology through the network or Vehicle to Grid (V2G), this innovation can make electricity more stable in helping to charge EV cars.

According to Senior Vice President, Honda Motor Europe, Tom Gardner, the partnership with Next Kraftwerke allows Honda to meet new demands, especially for the European market and fulfill its commitment to develop technologies that create value for society.

"This development is an important step towards advancing the role of EV and two-way charging technology in future sustainable energy systems," said Gardner in a written statement, Friday (25/11/2022).

As a result of this collaboration, Kraftwerke GmbH also announced that Honda has become the first car manufacturer in Europe to achieve certification for its mass-produced electric vehicle fleet, for the prequalification of frequency containment reserve (FCR) by Ampiron GmbH in November 2022.

FCR technology is used for network stabilization and is also referred to as backup primary control because it is the first response if there is a frequency disturbance.

The use of this technology is basically quite helpful. Because it can work to detect short-term currents in the power grid, this technology will then automatically balance these currents to make them stable.

Honda Has Conducted Testing

It was stated, if this test had been carried out by using mass-produced Honda e car products and had met the requirements to support network stability through the provision of instant FCR to the Transmission System Operator (TSO).

When testing six Honda e cars were charged using the Honda Power Manager bidirectional CCS charger. The results of this test show that Honda is able to meet high standards in charging by ensuring a stable 50Hz grid frequency.

For your information, the European Honda R&D Center itself has been established since 1985 located in the city of Offenbach, Germany. Currently, the European Honda R&D Center is primarily focused on the areas of renewable energy technology, automobiles, motorcycles and system solution development.
