After several years of paving in Indonesia, PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) has officially provided refreshments and improvements to the New Sirion. The city car, aka the city car, will officially be marketed on June 2, 2022.
There have been many changes made by Daihatsu to the New Sirion, starting from the exterior, interior, features, to the engine and transmission sectors. In addition, what is no less important is the consumption of fuel oil (BBM) produced also changes.
Overview of the Daihatsu New Sirion
The first time the Daihatsu Sirion was launched in Indonesia was in 2007. This hatchback was then well received in the national automotive market and has survived to this day. Sales have also exceeded 36,000 units. Since its initial launch until now, Sirion has also been imported in its entirety, aka completely built up (CBU) from Malaysia.
For the New Sirion, Daihatsu focuses on three things, namely a modern design, contemporary features that make driving a more enjoyable sensation, and a comfortable interior. On the exterior, the New Sirion comes with a different bumper design, the main lights have also changed, and the mirrors have also changed.
Regarding features, the New Sirion is equipped with Hill Start Assist (HSA) which can prevent the car from going backwards for a few seconds when it stops on an incline. So, the rider can move the position of the foot from the brake pedal to the gas pedal without the need to rush.
Then, there is the Idle Stop System (ISS) feature which was previously embedded in the New Terios. This feature is useful for increasing the efficiency of fuel consumption. Thus, it is not only economical, but the resulting gas emissions are also reduced and in other words it becomes more environmentally friendly. Although, the battery used must be special and the price has also increased to more than double.
Another feature that adds comfort is the presence of an air purifier which makes air circulation cleaner and healthier in the car cabin. In addition, driving using the New Sirion will also be safer and more comfortable, because it is equipped with a Speed Sensing Door Lock which will automatically lock the vehicle's door when it exceeds a certain speed.
Then, there are other advanced features, such as key free, engine start-stop button, digital air conditioner, and flexible seat settings to make it easier to arrange luggage in the cabin.
Transmission D-CVT Daihatsu New Sirion
In terms of the kitchen runway, the New Sirion is now equipped with an engine coded 1NR-VE with a capacity of 1,300 cc. This machine is capable of producing a maximum power of up to 95 PS at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 119.6 Nm at 4,200 rpm. The engine is combined with a Dual Mode Continuous Variable Transmission (D-CVT) transmission system.
This D-CVT transmission is one of the newest advantages of the New Sirion. The advantage of using the D-CVT is that the engine becomes responsive at lower and upper revs. The engine also tends to be less roaring when pursuing high speeds. When the speed reaches 80 kilometers per hour, the pull becomes more responsive and powerful.
The D-CVT transmission developed by Daihatsu has a quite unique way of working. There are two working systems in it, namely the belt and gear. Meanwhile, in an ordinary CVT, purely relying solely on the belt, like on an automatic scooter.
By using D-CVT, the resulting acceleration is more responsive, without pauses, pounding, and smoother gear shifts. Apart from that, there is also an additional planetary gear as a split gear system which will work alternately.
When the car is stationary, at low speed, up to medium speed, the transmission will rely on belt and pulley performance. However, when it enters at high speed, the transmission will involve a split gear system.
The energy that is channeled becomes smoother. Daihatsu also claims that by using D-CVT, power loss or wasted power can be minimized. Thus, the resulting fuel consumption can be more efficient alias more economical.
Apart from the New Sirion, the D-CVT transmission has also been installed on the Rocky and All New Xenia.
Daihatsu New Sirion fuel consumption
Regarding the fuel consumption of the New Sirion, Daihatsu claims that this city car is 10 percent more efficient than the previous mode. From the results of tests conducted by Daihatsu internally, the New Sirion can produce fuel consumption of up to 22.2 kilometers per liter.
According to our tests, for use in the city, the New Sirion's fuel consumption can penetrate up to 14.7 kilometers per liter. With notes, the ISS feature is activated. Meanwhile, for use out of town or on toll roads, the resulting fuel consumption can reach 22.3 kilometers per liter.
These results were obtained without using the Eco Driving technique. But, keep in mind, the fuel consumption results for each vehicle can vary. It depends on many factors, such as driving style, traffic conditions, weather conditions, engine conditions, type of fuel used, air pressure in each tire, weight carried in the cabin, and others.
