Seeing the success of the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV as the best-selling BEV car in China for 11 months in a row, Wuling seems to want to expand their line of low-cost electric car products by launching the Nano EV.
According to leaks, the Wuling Nano EV 2022 will be launched later this year and is cheaper than its older brother, the Mini EV. Of course, with a lower price, Wuling has also cut the dimensions and seat configuration from 2+2 on the Mini EV to just 2 people.
Even though you have to sacrifice cabin space, the mileage of this car is even better than its older sibling, more than 250 km on a single battery charge.
Took Base Baojun E200
As we all know, Baojun launched the E200 product in 2018. However, at that time, sales of micro EVs were still small and not as booming as they are now.
Wuling, which has seen the success of the Mini EV earlier this year, immediately moved quickly and used the Baojun E200 base to be used for the Nano EV.
Even though it has the same base, Wuling still provides differentiation to the Nano EV compared to the Baojun E200. Seen at the front the use of a bumper with a distinctive Wuling design and additional eyebrows above the lights.
On the side, Wuling uses new rims even though they are exactly the same size as the E200. In addition, the area under the door was given body-colored paint by Wuling, not plain black like that used on Baojun.
Behind the changes continue with a new model rear bumper that is more plain and looks modern. In the center there is also an LED bar that extends around the rear glass with the addition of the Wuling emblem.
Smaller than Wuling Mini EV
Talking about dimensions, this car is smaller than its older brother Mini EV. For comparison, the size (LxWxH) is 2,499 mm x 1,524 mm x 1,615 mm and the wheelbase is only 1,600 mm. Meanwhile, the Wuling Nano EV 2021 is shorter, up to 400 mm. Not to mention the trimmed wheelbase of 340 mm. This is due to the fact that the space for the rear passengers has been removed and only the trunk remains, even that is very small.
With this size, this car is indeed marketed by Wuling for consumers who don't need second row seats and roomy luggage.
Using Efficient Batteries and Electric Motors
Precisely because of its small shape, mileage is the main weapon of this car and can even beat the Mini EV. Wuling Nano EV uses the same 24 kWh lithium battery and 29 kW electric motor as the Baojun E200. This electric motor is capable of producing up to 40 PS of power and a maximum torque of 110 Nm.
According to the results of the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) test, the Baojun E200, which uses the same electric motor and battery as the Nano EV, is capable of recording a distance of 210-270 kilometers in one full charge. That means the Nano EV will also have a similar ability figure. This result is certainly better than the Mini EV which only recorded 177 kilometers in the same test.
Interior Possible Similar E200
Regarding the interior of the Nano EV, there are no leaks or spyshots circulating yet. However, seeing the price of this car which is very cheap, it is very likely that Wuling will still use the same interior as the E200. Of course, with a little touch of a different design as happened on the exterior.
The price is very cheap, can it sell better than the Wuling Mini EV?
One of the things that is a bit confusing about the Nano EV is the price leak. According to local media in China, Wuling will market this car starting at 20,000 Yuan or around IDR 44 million.
The price is unreasonable, because the basis for this car is the Baojun E200 which is valued more expensive, around 54,000 Yuan or Rp. 119 million. This means that on the same basis, Wuling sells the Nano EV at a third of the price of the E200.
Of course, if this is true, there will be many potential consumers who are interested in the Wuling Nano EV 2022. This is because the Hongguang Mini Ev is marketed by Wuling in the range of Rp. 80 million - Rp. 90 million. Apart from offering a low price, the mileage is also farther than the Mini EV.
