Toyota seems to really understand that GR Supra fans are speed enthusiasts. Because of that, the three-oval manufacturer provides a more ruthless GR Supra, which is named the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO.
This is a GR Supra with race-ready specifications. Manufacturers have also made improvements to braking performance, control, and the installation of racing components on the machine.
The GR Supra GT4 EVO has also been marketed in Europe at a price of 186,000 Euros or roughly the equivalent of Rp. 2.8 billion.
The Most Powerful Toyota GR Supra
Actually, the figure of the GR Supra GT4 is not new for Toyota. Because since 2020, the manufacturer has produced more than 50 units of this car for various types of races. The Supra GT4 has also recorded victory titles in 11 countries.
However, because competition in the GT4 racing car class was getting tighter, Toyota introduced the GR Supra GT4 EVO. This version is claimed to be stronger and faster and a gift for those who really love motorsport.
“Making a car that is always better than the motorsport version as a starting point is what we always do,” wrote the official statement from Toyota Gazoo Racing, quoted from Bestcarweb, Monday (31/10/2022).
Experience Revision at Three Points
Still according to Toyota, the GR Supra GT4 EVO focuses on three points, namely braking, control and the engine. First from the braking side, the Gazoo Racing team repaired the brakes and changed the ABS settings.
Then to control the shock breaker and stabilizer components have been replaced with the latest product KW Suspension. Meanwhile, from the engine side, the GR Supra GT4 EVO gets an increase in the air intake channel for the engine cooling system.
Then Toyota also made improvements to engine power and torque which led to a faster engine response capability. The new components installed in this car include the Magneti Marelli ECU and the full Akrapovic exhaust system. Then the gearbox also used components from ZF, installed a limited slip differential (LSD) made by Drexler, and a racing drive shaft from GKN.
In Toyota's records, the GR Supra GT4 EVO 2023 is capable of releasing a peak torque of 660 Nm. Even though the B58 3.0L 6-cylinder DOHC Turbo engine from the GR Supra standard is capable of producing 387 PS of power with 500 Nm of torque.
The price is almost IDR 1 billion different from the standard version
The Toyota GR Supra is also actually sold in Indonesia. Only coming with an 8-speed automatic transmission variant, the two-door sports car sells for IDR 2.051 billion.
If the price for the GR Supra GT4 EVO 2023 is equivalent to IDR 2.8 billion, of course this is a fairly cheap price tag. The reason is by adding IDR 800 million, you already get a car ready to race.
Given that not only braking, control, and the engine is changed. But this car body also uses steel and aluminum composition materials and has a roll bar installed.
Then several components such as the front spoiler and rear wing have been replaced with carbon fiber material. The seats have also been replaced with products from OMP including 6-point seat belts with a similar brand.
