If you look at the current MotoGP powertrain, on average they can draw around 250 PS of power. But Ducati hasn't presented a bike with nearly the same amount of power for their regular product!
Yup, last week the Italian motorcycle manufacturer presented their new superbike, the Ducati Panigale V4 R 2023. Unmitigated, its maximum power reaches 243 PS, or almost the equivalent of a MotoGP ride.
The amount of power is produced by various 'luxury' technologies in the engine area. Even in terms of specifications, Ducati says that the Ducati Panigale V4 R 2023 is similar to their racing motorbike in the World Superbike (WSBK) class.
It has become a hallmark of Ducati to present wild-powered motorbikes with advanced technology. The Ducati Panigale V4 R 2023 is no exception, which is equipped with exotic engine innards to support the resistance of its large power.
Where the connecting rods are embedded with 'gun drilled' titanium material which has an oil path with self-lubricated properties. In addition, the pistons are coated with Diamond Like Carbon which has a high level of hardness. This material is exactly the same as that used on MotoGP motorbikes to Formula 1 cars.
This piston geometry supports inertial forces within the combustion chamber to increase its power. In addition, there is also a 2 percent reduction in weight from the DLC piston.
Furthermore, the machine nicknamed Desmosedici Stradale R has a volume of 998 cc with a V4 configuration. This motorbike clutch is still a dry model with a lighter weight.
Assisted Racing Muffler and Special Oil
As previously mentioned, optimal power reaches 243 PS at 16,500 rpm thanks to the help of a racing exhaust from Akrapovic. As well as the use of special oil from Shell nicknamed Ducati Corse Oil.
The undertail type exhaust and special oil boost power quite significantly. Because in standard conditions, without the support of racing exhaust and Ducati Corse Oil lubricants, the power is only 221 PS at 15,500 rpm.
Adjustable Power
If the power of 243 PS feels too wild, then Ducati presents a 'Low' mode which will cut the power down to just 162 PS which makes this motorbike still comfortable to ride on the highway. To restore optimal power, simply set the settings to 'Full' mode.
Even if it's still lacking, there is the Ducati Performance DTC EVO 3 software which is sold separately, to adjust the motorbike settings on the track. But its use makes the status of motorbikes illegal on the highway.
