The Toyota bZ4X was finally officially chosen as one of the operational vehicles to support the G20 Bali Summit on 15-16 November 2022. Previously, the selection of the bZ4X as the official vehicle for the G20 Summit experienced ups and downs, and even the issue of cancellation arose.
The Marketing Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), Anton Jimmi Suwandy, explained that the bZ4X procurement process for the G20 Summit did take a long time. Because this electric car has not been sold in Indonesia. It's different from the Lexus UX 300e which has been officially sold in Indonesia.
"Indeed, we talked about it from the start. But it turns out that it takes longer preparation. Why? We have sold the UX 300e since 1-2 years ago, just use it. But for this (bZ4X) we have never launched it, have never introduced it, So this is the first, completely new," said Anton in the East Parking area of Senayan, Jakarta.
In addition, Anton also said that Toyota must ensure that the bZ4X is safe from recall, so that the units imported to Indonesia are truly the best units and are ready to be used by delegates of the G20 Summit from various countries.
"Preparation for a new car was actually long, but by chance it was possible (it was brought in). (The recall issue) is definitely one of the things that we pay attention to, we also make sure. Because Indonesia does not have a recall, because the unit is not available to the customer. But all the units used For the G20, we have checked, we have made sure the conditions are the best," he continued.
Previously in August 2022, the government had announced the use of 143 units of the Lexus UX 300e for the G20 Summit activities. Whereas the initial plan of the government and Toyota was to use 143 units of bZ4X.
And at the official handover ceremony for the G20 Indonesia 2022 vehicle from Toyota Indonesia at the Senayan East Parking area, Jakarta (19/10), the Toyota bZ4X was finally officially used as the operational vehicle for the G20 Summit accompanying the Lexus UX 300e. The details are 41 units of Toyota BZ4X and 102 units of Lexus UX 300e.
