The Highlander, Toyota's largest hybrid SUV, is getting options for a new look and new technology to provide a more connected and personalized user experience.
The Highlander, which debuts in Western Europe in 2021, provides refinement with a flexible seven-seat interior and intelligent all-wheel drive (AWD-i) performance.
New for 2023, is the Cypress Green Metallic paint option that enhances the Highlander's signature style and makes it stand out on the road.
There's a new contrasting dashboard design and new 20-inch glossy black alloy wheels, while the addition of Beige and Ocher leather upholstery options enhances the interior's premium look and feel.
Toyota Smart Connect Cloud Based
The Highlander is the latest model to adopt the Toyota Smart Connect multimedia system. It introduces a 12.3-inch high-definition touchscreen display and additional functionality, including cloud-based navigation with real-time information on road events and on-board voice agents.
Cloud navigation can be accessed without having to install a smartphone and without additional data costs. The Highlander is sold on an inclusive four-year data plan that also includes convenient over-the-air system updates.
High-end models are equipped with Toyota Smart Connect+ which also provides an embedded navigation system that allows routes to be planned where connection to the cloud is not available.
This dashing SUV also provides 3D city mapping, road sign recognition, and speed camera location information.
The new system enables more useful remote functions, including locking and unlocking doors and operation of hazard lights to help locate cars in busy parking lots.
Smartphone Connection and Modern Instrument Panel
This High SUV also allows wireless smartphone connection via Apple CarPlay, plus a wired connection to use the Android Auto system.
All Highlander models now come with a wireless charging tray placed on the front console for easier use.
The instrument panel display has been completely redesigned with the introduction of a 12.3-inch digital combi meter that provides easy-to-read information and intuitive operation.
The instrument panel display creates a three-dimensional concave meter cluster effect, with graphics customizable to the driver's preferences from four design themes: Casual, Smart, Tough and Sport.
Powerful Hybrid Engine and Low Exhaust Emissions
In Western Europe, the Highlander retains its 248 hp hybrid engine with CO2 emissions of 149 g/km (WLTP combined cycle) giving it the best weight-to-emissions ratio in its segment.
For the Eastern European market there is a 2,400 cc turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine replacing the previous 3,500 cc V6 unit which brings benefits in fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions.
The new power plant produces a maximum power of 269 hp and is tuned for high acceleration response and torque distribution which makes the driver more relaxed with fewer downshifts to get the best performance.
