Keeping Car Headlamp Reflector Clear

A few steps to avoid yellowing car headlight reflectors, changing the bulb size is one of the reasons
.

It is imperative that the owner of the vehicle understands how to care for and clean the reflector on the car's headlights. Given the aging of the vehicle, generally it can make the quality of the lights look dull and tend to turn yellow.

It can be ascertained that the quality of light coming out of the headlamp is not optimal anymore. In fact, this can be handled independently. Moreover, caring for the light reflector is very easy, and you can clean it yourself at home. That way, the car's lighting system is clean again.

“At least there are several steps that need to be considered when caring for car reflectors. Starting from preparing the equipment, the cleaning process, removing scratches to determining which light bulb to use. If all of that is followed, the quality of the car's headlights will automatically remain at its maximum,” explained Roni Agung, Workshop Head of Body & Paint Astra International – Peugeot.

Please note, when driving at night or in the rain, the condition of the car's headlights is dull, it will cause the light rays that radiate to be less than optimal. As a result, the road you see will be less clear.

Changes in the color of the mica of the car's headlights could be caused by the heat that comes from the light bulb. Especially if the vehicle owner is wrong when installing a bulb with a wattage greater than the standard specifications. The excessive heat from the bulb causes the mica of the lamp to turn yellowish.

"We recommend using a light bulb with a power that matches the standard. Because it uses a higher wattage power, the bulb will generate excess heat and can cause your car's headlights to turn yellow. The battery won't last long because it works hard," he continued.

Other factors such as the age of the lamp, weather factors, glass mold, scratches on the lamp mica to the usage factor. It is also one of the causes of the decline in the quality or performance of your car's lights. Therefore always pay attention to the rubber bulb cover. Because without realizing it, sometimes the rubber cover of this bulb usually likes to tear or become brittle.

Yellowing of the reflector quickly can also be affected by clogged air circulation holes, damaged, torn or brittle mica cover seals. Then water can easily enter the lamp housing, as well as dust or dirt. If you experience this, immediately replace or tidy up the seal so that there is no gap for water or dust to enter.

No less important is to get used to parking in the shade to avoid direct ultraviolet (UV) rays. In addition, try to always wash the outer glass of the headlamp, especially when it rains.
