Daihatsu Xenia 1.3 X is the cheapest family car with CVT transmission among other manufacturers. Unit sold for Rp.237.5 on the road in Jakarta. The cabin is roomy, thanks to the DNGA monocoque chassis. All dimensions are enlarged compared to the old model.
Now the latest generation measures 4,395 mm x 1,730 mm x 1,690 mm and has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. As a result, it is able to create high ergonomics in a seven-passenger configuration.
Although cheap, Xenia 1.3 X CVT still has a relatively good face. The shape of the mesh grille that is divided into two makes the car look sporty. All in all-black. There is no touch of chromium on the exterior.
The front highlight is LED, but consumers are not given fog lamps or fog lights. The rims use a 15-inch dark single tone. It looks more charming than the silver color. The front suspension uses MacPherson Strut and Torsion Beam to support the rear wheels. Quite comfortable in its class.
Once you look at the cabin, the quality does not feel cheap. The Xenia 1.3 X CVT still uses a floating style touchscreen head unit. Can connect to various devices, including playing music via Bluetooth. The AC settings are already digital. The front compartment is ample for storing light items. Then the seats clearly use fabric material, all in black color.
Still in the cabin, the meter cluster uses an analog combination as in the old model. The steering wheel adopts a rack and pinion system, can be adjusted in all directions. Braking sector relies on ventilated discs at the front plus drums at the rear. Already ABS, EBD, Hill Start Assist, Brake Assist, VSC, parking sensor. The first line of security is armed with dual SRS airbags.
It carries a 1.3 liter mechanical heart, still the same as the older unit coded 1NR-VE 4-cylinder DOHC Dual VVT-i. The resultant combustion gives 97.9 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 122 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm.
Known to be strong and economical, but has now changed its position to front-wheel drive (FWD). There's definitely a character change. Starting from a more responsive pull, can be more efficient and the loss of the axle hum typical of older models.
Performance is supported by CVT, considered one of the best in its class. Astra Daihatsu Motor does not use a regular transmission. But Dual Mode CVT (D-CVT) as used by Rocky-Raize. In the gearbox component, it is not only filled with two pulleys and a belt.
But there is also additional planetary gear. So high speed above 60 km / h or depending on the throttle opening. The transmission switches from belt to gear.
Based on Daihatsu's claim, this covers the weakness of CVT energy-loss at high speed which makes the engine less efficient. At a price of Rp. 200 million, it is very worth having.
