Peugeot looks to the future. Once again, Peugeot took a step forward. On July 6, the French manufacturer released its racing car at the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC). Peugeot 9X8 ready to fight.

This car is a hybrid engine that transmits power to all 4 parts of the wheel (all-wheel drive). It confirms a new era of auto racing championships powered by the latest technology. Peugeot is sure to rewrite an important record in the history of this automotive

The Peugeot 9X8 is the successor of the Peugeot 905 which won the Le Mans 24 Hours championship in 1992 and 1993. In addition, the Peugeot 908 was able to win the French Classic award in 2009.

This model is the last prototype of the design that is being worked on at the FIA WEC 2022 event. However, in terms of design there are no changes too far from the final result.

"This 9X8 is a Peugeot, for that we worked on its shape depicting a big cat (Lion) ready to lunge on a very sturdy horse." said Matthias Hossann, Peugeot Design Director.

For the name itself, Peugeot 9X8 is taken from several things. The number "9" indicates that this is a Top Performance model from Peugeot like its predecessors, the Peugeot 905 and 908, which incidentally became the icon of the Peugeot brand.

The letter “X” indicates that this car is all-wheel drive and is also powered by a Hybrid engine. Finally, the number "8" confirms that the current generation Peugeot model is compatible with other types marketed such as the Peugeot 3008 SUV and 5008 SUV.

“Before there was nothing like this. It's like the future of racing and also the future of a new era," said Kevin Magnussen, former Formula 1 driver.
