Toyota bZ4X looks released to the market with a rental system

Toyota officially launched its first battery-based electric car, the bZ4X in Japan. Interestingly, this model is only for rent and not sold in bulk.

According to a Reuters report, Toyota's strategy for the bZ4X was deemed too cautious, with its competitors going full throttle.

However, this approach is considered appropriate, as it helps allay drivers' concerns about battery life and resale value.

Meanwhile, hybrid models remain far more popular in the home market than pure electric, which only accounted for 1 percent of all passenger cars sold in the Land of the Rising Sun last year.

By combining insurance, repair costs and battery warranty into the deal, Toyota will lease the bZ4X for the equivalent of $39,000 for the first four years.

Unilateral cancellation within the first 48 months will incur additional fees.
